Please do take note the bass in question consists out of plywood, it is in good health and my luthier could laugh about it and thought it was a beautiful solution.

You're getting quite the stack of shims there. Ever considered a new bridge?

If not a new bridge, why not a single shim of the right height?
Also, I would be worried that it needs to be shimmed that much if the bridge originally fit.

Besides any other concern, I'd be worried about the coins sliding on the top of the bass.
