Double Bass 1/2 size Strings

Can anybody help me with the typical length of a 1/2 size string? Looking for the distance from ball to start of silk at pegbox end

54" for a vibrating string length of 38" leaves me 16" slack to take up --- thats a hell of a lot come to think of it, especially on BG tuners.

Bob Gollihur has the Corelli 350A which looks like a 100cm string (looking on the illustration) this may be closer, im not sure where the 100cm is measured from though

100cm is the scale of the instrument.
The 350A set is tungsten, while the 300A is nickel.
(hint: A stands for 100cm)
The 350B (and 300B) sets are for a 90cm scale.
C stands for 80cm and D for 69cm. (D only available in tungsten)

90cm = 35.4 inches
80cm = 31.5 inches
69cm = 27.2 inches

Plus some slack at the bottom and at the top.
