1/4 plugs. A few questions.

Ive used ONLY Monster (okay, some Live Wire,)For the last ten or so YRS.[of live gigging]

I've never had any "ruined Jacks" due to monster cable use.In fact I've never even had a cable fail.I may get them stolen from me or "lost"...but never fail..I think its worth the extra ching vs. a chepo GC cable..or Peavey cable (those were the first two I had that failed...then I switched to Monster)

BUT thats my experience.YMMV


I dont care if people hate them.I will continue to use them.

Warranty? I don't need no stinkin' warranty. If a cable fails, just buy another. If you can afford overpriced cables, you can afford to buy reasonably priced cables, as needed. Warranty = insurance = gambling; the house always wins.

FWIW I make all my own cables. Nuetrik, or G&H ends on Canare, or Mogami wire.

OK OK I'm not always that picky. Speaker wire may be: 14/2, round jacket, SJ** wire from the nearest hardware store, or even garden lighting cable, if I'm skint. For balanced patch cables, I'm not above using scraps of cheap mic cable.

Edit: As I mentioned 1/4" and speaker cable, in the same post, I should say that all my speaker cables have Speakons, and not 1/4"

bought myself some mogami (which seems popular from what ive seen in this thread) for my bass to head, and some livewire speakon for head to cab. Not sure the quality of live wire stuff but it was affordable, Sucks I could only get 10ft the shortest. Ill just have to bundle it up.

Speakons are often attached with screws, not solder. You should be able to shorten your speaker lead, with a small screwdriver, wire stripper, and utility knife. It's easy, just take your time, and put everything back the way you found it.

Similar to Jimmy, I've been using the same 15' instrument cable since 1996 without failure and without it being a Monster.

At one point I needed to get a couple new speaker cables and the only heavy gauge ones that I could find locally were Monsters. I bought them by default. They DID have larger diameter end pieces which DID stretch out the inputs on my cabs and outputs on my amp. Of course, if you're only ever going to use that one set of Monsters, you'll never notice. But if you ever go back to using a 'standard' quarter inch cable that is, in fact, quarter inch...you'll notice right away.

Apparently Monster doesn't need to make their quarter inch connectors quarter inch. So much for 'standards'. ;)

These days I just make my own (usually for other band members)...they're built with good quality cables and if there's ever a problem, the manufacturer will fix them in seconds.
