1/4 TS >>>> 1/4 TRS

Was wondering if you can use a balanced 1/4 TRS in an unbalanced 1/4 jack (TS). I need to adapt an unbalanced 1/4 to a balanced XLR. I have a balanced 1/4TRS>XLR cable....just wondering if it will be OK. I'm gonna assume it will be OK. Just wanted to querry to make sure my gut is right. Thanks.
