I saw the title, wondered why no reply. Then saw 2010 to now....geez....i think theres like two records released since 2010 that i like. i guess they add up to over ten songs...but i dont think most of them are must listen.... Considering this forum's crowd, good luck with that thread...

'basswise', I think DP's Mega Hits "Get Lucky" is interesting, Nathan East the bassist
    ..what else... umm..
I agree it's getting harder to choose from recent (2010-2014) songs, because we (or at least me) will always compare them to the old classics which naturally are the benchmark, and they sure are tough to beat.

NIN "Copy Of A ..." has unique bass in it, I think it's Pino Palladino CMIIW

This isn't a "modern music" bash thread......I know that isn't tolerated....

Was just wondering what the good stuff was these days....

Too bad it wasn't "name 10 songs since 1979".

    Sorry, can't do it.

    1. Flowers in Your Hair - The Lumineers
    2. Safe in the Steep Cliffs - Emancipator
    3. Walk Us Uptown - Elvis Costello and the Roots
    4. Stalker - Tetra (free download on their bandcamp)
    5. Produce Communicate Transport Destroy - Time Columns (free download on their bandcamp)
    6. Sacrilege - Yeah Yeah Yeahs
    7. Ruby '81 - Aesop Rock (lyrics here)
    8. Goodbye Hooray - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    9. Factory of Faith - Red Hot Chili Peppers
    10. Kazo's Theme - The Orphanage

It's easy to lock your doors and complain about current music being awful, but you're doing yourself a disservice. Sure, you may be more acquainted with the artists that have influenced the up-and-comers, but your favorite group started somewhere.

Unfortunately I'm at a total loss.
  13. For a forum of musicians, Talkbass really loves to brag about hating music.

Well, there is music and then there's music. May as well compare Tom Clancy to Shakespeare while you're at it.

I've been thinking long and hard about this, and got nothing. Got Lucky may be the closest I could get.

It seems to me like most of the suggestions here are being offered more as "passable" than as "must listen". :bag:
