I would consider the HT112ER to be the more balanced of the two. The extended low end can trick you into hearing a tad bit of a mid scoop, but I think that's more of a trick of the mind/ear than a significant scoop. It might be a little lean in the upper mids, though, if anything. The HT112 is fairly balanced throughout its usable range, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some peaks that don't show up in the HT112ER.

The 700RB-II is just a super match for the Neo112-II (or Neo212-II). In addition to that inter-brand synergy and the availability of the bi-amp option, that head and those Neo 12's just really match up well, IMHO.

I am sure I would love the Bergantino's, but the value for the GK Neo's (and the matching up with my MB2-500) seems to good to go wrong with. I am going to check some out at a local store tomorrow or Saturday. My buddy, a local pro, tried them there and really liked them (and he is an Ampeg 2 x 112 user).
I'll have to hook up my 1001RBII to them as well just so that I can actually try out the bi-amp option. Now the question is what in the hell did I do with that biamp cable when I bought the head a few years ago!

If you order from RMC Audio you get a free GK 4 conductor biamp speakon cable with the purchase of a GK cab. I think that with other companies you may have to purchase the cable separately. I bought my GK NEO212-II from them and was very happy.

Powered by my GK 1001RB-II head, I absolutely love the growl I get through GK twelves. I haven't tried the 112NEO, but I really dig the 212 and they are the same NEO drivers. Warm, fat, but also clear and aggressive tone that just sits right in the mix.

I've owned Eden D112XLT, D212XLT and D210XST cabs, and Acme Low B2 series I and II cabs, and this GK rig is my favorite due to the combination of light weight (50 pounds for a 212!), great tone, and powerful volume (it is LOUD!)

I'm thinking about adding on a 112NEO-II to my rig. There's a guy on the GK message board who raves about his GK MB2-500 head and GK 112NEO-II cab as "the ultimate small portable rig."

Go with Gallien-Krueger!

I now have a MB-500 and NEO212-II (and a 400RBIII wich also sounds great). I really enjoy the combination. The NEO212-II is a really cool cab and the most portable cab I own at the moment. Compared to my Ampeg 410HLF, it's almost weightless...it is the lightest 50 pounds I have every carried up and down stairs, and the box is pretty compact as well. It's on 4 casters and rolls around easily most of the journey. No need to tilt it back like the Ampeg to get it to roll. The depth allows you to turn it sideways and get it through the doorway at the top of stairs and not bust up your hands on the stair handrails on your way down. I never feel like I am going to fall down the stairs like I do with the HLF. This is my first cab with 12s in it. I have always been a 10's guy. I like the Ampeg sound too, it's just not as portable.

30 pds is crazy Larry! I remember lugging around my Peavey 210118 back in the day to gigs every weekend and up and down the stairsof our practice space! Lord, no wonder my neck got fried!!! I think that cab was lined with lead!the other band that we shared space with had a Trace Elliott 810, so every Friday we'd lug those damn things down the stairs. Ugh....

I rock a 700rb2 + NeoII 1x12 + NeoII 1x15 (bigger version). This rig SMOKES! SOOOO loud and punchy. The 1x15 is the most dynamic 15" cab I've ever played (I've played a lot). The 1x12 is smoother, it's great for light rehearsal/gigs and home practice. I've also owned the Neo 2x10 and was less than impressed. Lots of lows and highs but lacking in the mids. I sold it to get the 1x12 and am happy with the results. IMO the newer Neo 12s seem a bit even sounding than the older Neos. My NeoI 2x12 always seemed to have a "hole" in the mids.

Got a chance to try one just a bit ago with my Sadowsky and MB2500. It was slightly used and on consignment. Really nice with plenty of low end for one small box. I could definitely handle certain situations with just that!

The top end was just a bit brighter or crisper than I'd prefer. I ended up with the horn all the way off and still would have liked just a tad more warmth. Really nice cab though. In this case, it was on consignment and they could not come off too high a price imo.

Now the quandary, MF has the 15% off through tonight. Do I jump on that awesome deal (basically 2 112's for under $600) or take a chance on spending a significant amount more on the Bergs that I can't try. I have a feeling they may be a little warmer I guess, but just the HT112ER is more than 2 of the GK's.

Must decide tonight......

By the way, kudos to Larry for putting nice real handles on the side of that small box (follow link for angled pic). I hate when they have the one strap on top. It negates the ease of lifting to me (and my surgically repaired wimpy neck). It is a deal killer for me right off the bat with the Aggie DB112.

OK, this is not making things easier:

GK and Hartke - side handles and tolex cover, but maybe not quite the sound I was looking for.

Berg, epifani ps - Handles on top and rat fur (I have 2 dogs, 1 is a husky, plus smoking is allowed in bars here).

Aguilar DB112 - I should give it another look but bulky and handle on top if memory serves correctly

Man, I think the issue with the highs is more of an issue with the MB than the cabinet. I've just spent the last 2 days with a MB500 head..... I really want to like this thing, because it would make the perfect backup, but the highs on it don't sound anything like my 700rbii. Maybe it's the pairing with the my GK 12's?..... but they sound so good with the 700rbii, that I'm not sure I'd like the MB with any horn loaded cabinet. It's almost as if it's like the 700 with the treble and presence all the way up.
