Trust me, it never hurts to run an amp thru a cab that's rated at more power than the amp has. an example is the new SVT-VR/810AV cab combination . its a 300 watt head running thru a cab that is rated at 800 watts.

So if I slapped a couple of 400W RMS speakers rated for 8 ohms, this thing should run?

Or these rated at 250 but still 8 ohms?

your amp will put out less power at 8 ohms than at 4 ohms.

IME, the deltalites are pretty sensitive with an SPL rating of 99.9dB @ 1w/1m so you might not notice the power drop running it at 8hms/ch. whereas, with the Beyma's 97dB @1w/1m running at 4 ohms each, you'll get the full power of your amp, but be using a less sensitive speaker. its kind of a toss up.

but with the 2512's you could later add another cab and run your rig at full power with double the speaker mass and gain another 6db (ALOT LOUDER).

The Beymar 4 ohm pair will be fine but they don't leave you the option of picking up another 3 dB in watts + another aprox 3dB by coupling another pair of eminence 8 ohm 12's for the larger stage.

You're not paying attention , so let me spell it out for you: W-A-T-T-S M-E-A-N N-O-T-H-I-N-G.
That Beyma won't work nearly as well as a 2512 with your amp. It's much less sensitive.

I'm competing against two guitarists with half stacks and a loud ass drummer so I can't lose much by way of volume either. The rig was doing well until the speaker decided to crap out.

You had better have at least as many speakers as the guitards then.
wonder why ampeg decided on eight X 10 as the only real single box bass answer to a pair of marshall half stacks?.
Its still the benchmark for metal, rock and even reggae sometimes.
Its not about watts as much as it is about coupling speakers.

You undoubtably blew your still unidentified driver by trying to get from it more than it was capable of. That situation will not change if you try to compete with two half stacks with only two twelves. Either they need to scale back or you need to scale up, big time.

Right. You're asking way too much out of a 212. That's why you blew them in the first place. 250w through a single 12" speaker is a lot to be asking.

Well, thanks for the input guys. I appreciate the advice and suggestions.

Scaling up is not an option right now so I'll have to make due.
Might see about running a DI to the PA to add a little boost.

After all the suggestions here and on another forum, I decided to go with two Deltalite II 2512 drivers. Got 'em for $93 apiece on Amazon and they shipped yesterday.
