15" driver recommendation

I have a Carvin setup with a R1000, and typically use the 410 cab, and it works fairly well. I also have a 1x18 that I really don't need to use. In the past, I had a 1x15 that I liked the sound of - so I was thinking about getting a 15" driver and modifying the 18 to take it, to try without the 410.

What drivers do you like for building 1x15's??

(I know the cab is designed for the 18, but I'd like to try it, and then I may just build a smaller 1x15 anyway)

Measure the internal dimensions of the 18 and the port and then model it. Winisd is pretty good at that.

Off hand I would bet that a 3015LF with a ~1000hz low pass filter wired in would do a great job at this.

Regarding the low pass filter - keep in mind I plan to try this as a stand alone, not with the 4x10 cab... I may need a HF and crossover, but I am not in the habit of using the tweeter on my 4x10 now.

Carvin is selling a Neo 15 driver for $99 right now - does anyone know who makes their speakers. Are they decent?

Since there are no specs available for them no one can say with any certainty how good they are. You'll get some replies touting their wonderfulness, but some people eat snails too...and like them.

In a previous thread someone posted some basic specs of them.

The main thing to note is the 15" drivers have an Xmax of around 3.1 or thereabouts...MEH!

That might have changed in the last few months but I doubt it.
