hey fellow bass players and musicians i just got an 18 inch bass cab for free yesterday. the reason i got it for free was because the speaker is blown. being a bit unknowledged in the field of speaker replacement i was wondering if any one out there could give me any suggestions for a sick replacement speaker. any good ones out there i should know of?

Recone kits are available cheaply for quite a few old high quality drivers.
Often in higher power handling and a wider range of impedances than original was available in at the time.

haha, that's funny. Speaker technology has come a long way -- it's more than just sticking a 'sick' speaker in a box. You'll want to check out the size of the box and find the right speaker for it. So you'll need to either do the research, recone the blown one, or else take a chance on something cheap and used.
+1 great speakers. i got a 15" from them. they're actually manufactured by celestion. groovy sound.

Tell us more about the cabinet (dimensions or internal volume, ported or horn or sealed, and port dimensions if applicable). The usefulness of any suggestions will largely depend on the information we have to go on.
the cab is made by swr. i have no idea what model it is the cab doesnt even have a grill. the speaker that is in it is a bag end e-18.
Sounds like you hav an SWR Big Ben.
I would take the speaker to someone and have it reconed. Should cost ya 50-60 bucks to make it new.

I'd still need the port dimensions to make a recommendation, but frankly Red Planet's suggestion of reconing is probably the best bet.
