1955 FENDER BASS - YA GOTTA SEE THIS!!

A really good friend of mine who is a super high end dealer bought this. He's gonna rescue this. I has told directly its an insanely rare orig bass. Its actually progressing nicely and should be ready for the Philly show in weeks. Personally, I thought he was nuts but what do I know..

Yeah, if that's the original color, it would definitely be considered "insanely rare". I've seen a few custom color early Teles, so it's possible that this is straight. Maybe a dealer rep or artist order....

And Kebo, you know a LOT !

I was told this is an absolute, no doubt all orig bass including the paint. The rod was removed and lubed and it works. Theres a crack in the neck thats fixed, it needed a full fret job and level. Pickup being rewound. The only possible item that is toast are the pots and they will be salvaged and rebuilt.. As a dealer, it scares the crap outta me, as a collector, Im curious. as a player - it looks fun....

Chef - main reason is it is an extremely rare color...like possibly the only one. Which means it isn't a $7k-$10k bass cleaned up...it's double that. Once it is restored (and I don't mean refinned...just cleaned and made functional) it is a collectors dream bass. The guy who bought it probably already has it sold...or at least has a customer in mind for it.

Well I know for a fact that bass was not the only one Fender did in that color at the time. There may just be 2 and I guess that is rare also. Would just be curious if they are not re-painting, how they re going to keep that original color. Seems like it would just flake off as you play it (I guess it could be a collectible behind glass type of thing too).
