yes, those are now standard on the A series.

Some ears are too small to house the recessed socket and will be made with the non-recessed socket.

Correct. I was just wondering if they had to change them on you. Sometimes they don't fit. A friend is having A8s finished and the order page changed to "recessed sockets: NO" I assume his ear was too small.

I just checked and my A8's are at the "assembled" stage and still shows Recessed Sockets: YES!

Assuming you have the ambient ports - which 1964 advised me against ordering for my Qi's for playing bass - then @TedH would be correct.. -15db at least.

Wound up converting my Qi's to A4's as they were collecting dust since I got the A3's. Wish that promo came out before I did the A3's, but at least I have a backup now. That said, I used the Qi's last week and I do in fact find them better for playing, so looks like the A3s will be for airplanes, general music and performance backup.

I use a wireless system for my bass, maybe it is time I quite being a tight wad and purchase one for my IEMs. I would like one with dual sends so I can mix me independently of the rest of the house.
