1965 Fender Bassman

I have a real 65 Bassman amp that im wondering the value of. It's tag is shown here. The amp has been serviced by a professional amp tech in NYC over the last 2 years and has since sat in my home studio unused. The tolex is worn but not tattered, the hardware is aged nicely as is the knobs and black face. The mesh is in perfect condition and the red jewel is still original. The amp works perfect, no knob crackle and also still has the original handle. Looking for an idea of what it's worth these days. Any help would be appreciated.

Nice looking amp.

Rule #3: Off-limit Topics & Forum-Specific Rules ...Price check/"How much is this bass worth"-type threads are limited to supporting members only. Post them in the appropriate forums for the item in question (A question related to the value of a bass guitar should be posted in the Basses[BG] forum, an amplifier in the Amps[BG] forum, etc.)

Try ebay completed listings or www.ampwares.com, I believe they used to track bassman pricing.

I would say $500-$700

Yeah.....
this model Fender is not worth much money (compared to some of the others), even a BF in great condition. If it has been serviced with caps, 3 wire cord, all jack/pots cleaned/replaced, etc. etc.....
You will have one of the worlds finest guitar amps. Does not take much effort to change the Bass Channel to something guitar friendly.
Makes a great Bass Amp for the studio or small/acoustic gigs.
best

No worries, it happens all the time, which is why it's a rule ;)

It's a very nice looking amp and should fetch a fairly decent price. Good luck.

i'd disagree with the reasoning a bit. it's a rule because to sell anything on this site you have to pay a membership fee. some people try to get around that by posting something like... "i'm thinking of selling this and need to know how much it's worth" ...and then people pm them to try and buy it.

I am lucky enough to have a 65 bassman as a practice rig. I use it when I don't feel like lugging my stuff over. It sounds great at low volumes. I could gig it with the right cabs but I like it pretty dirty. As a guitar amp it kills.

I had always assumed it was to keep the forum from being cluttered up with threads looking for instrument/amp value from people who don't regularly contribute otherwise, but that's a good point too.

No, no, no, I'm not looking to sell it here at all and that was NEVER my intention. It is an innocent question and I figured with a community of this size there would be some knowledge to be shared. I've done some research and really couldn't find any definitive answers prior to my thread. I said I was thinking of selling it and if it's worth my trouble or if it is vintage gear I would probably keep it. I am simply looking for an idea of what value of it is these days. As I stated, I'm still a newbie on this site and don't know every rule for asking a simple question.

Thats a nice looking amp. In 1977 I bought one just like it, along with its 2x12 cabinet and a '65 Jazz Bass (Olympic White with matching headstock) for $350. I never thought the amp was powerful enough or sounded very good, so I sold it in the early 1980s. I still have the bass, which is about 95% original (only replaced things as they broke or completely wore out).

oh, i know how you feel. i have a cab that i know very little about. i can't find any info online about it. i'm sure someone here would be able to help me out but my i haven't felt like renewing my membership fees. it's one of the frustrating things about the site. but it's not my house. when i'm in someone else's house i play by their rules.

I bought a SF about the same time to go with my 65 SB Jazz. I eventually got a BF Dual Showman with the JBL bass speakers.

I miss the amp but when I pick up my Eden WTX264 the whole rig is less than the head weighed.
