1969 Precision price...

You are supposed to be a supporting member to ask for value of a bass, though.

Only about instruments you intend to sell/trade. Questions of value on basses you wish to purchase are currently allowed.

A local shop has a 1969 Precision priced at £3500, apparently all original and with the case.

What are people's thoughts on the price? Too much? Just right?

Cheers

Post a pic or link and you'll get all kinds of confirmation about the authenticity of the bass from members on this site. Lots of collective knowledge here. There are probably as many fake fender vintage instruments out there these days as there are real ones (fake being ones that people have hobbled together from period correct or other bass parts in order to claim its an all original vintage bass). As a collector, I'd say at least 80% of the basses I look at are not what the seller claims them to be. Not saying the seller is being dishonest in every case, some are just parroting what they were told when they bought it.

That is a bit on the high side price wise. If it were a couple of years earlier(nitro finished) Id say go for it. Some of these late 60's/early 70's precisions are way over priced right now. You can find early 70's P-Basses in the TB classifieds for less as well.

That's definitely on the high side. Dealer prices are always higher than private party of course, but you could get a similar bass for around $2,500 (or a little more) if you're patient and watch the classifieds, craigslist, etc. (Of course, this opinion is only valid for the US market, I should point out.)

Is it just me or is the site currently listing the price on this thing as 0.00 dollars? Nope, I clicked add to basket and it definitely looks like I could get this thing for free right now...:bassist:

EDIT: "Price on Application ! Call for details." Man!

I think you could seriously try to add it to your basket for $0.00. Chances are, they'll either check the price or not. Worst case scenario is you make a joke of it and say "just thought i'd try my luck". Go on OP, do it.
