also, that bass was around $600 when i saw it about a week ago... hope they didnt raise the price just before you bought it. either way, thats a killer deal on a killer bass!

Someone at the store must have done some research and realized $600 was way underpriced and jacked it up another $250. Or some idiot customer tipped them off. $600 would have been a silly good price, but the buyer still got a decent deal.

I'm surprised it was that low to begin with. All the local GC stores check the going price of every used item on ebay before taking it in, so they usually know what they're getting into. And on top of that, anything vintage usually has to go through the hollywood store for price approval (or at least that's what they say). Maybe they had it marked down because of the replaced parts, but still, if they were selling it for $600 (and assuming it wasn't just a mistake in labeling) that means that they probably paid some poor guy around $300 for it. Either that or it's hot and someone was just looking to dump it.

I'm not a huge fan of the P in general, but that's a sweet looking bass man.

Great score on your part, $600. would've been the deal of a lifetime, but all in all a great deal. I foolishly sold a Black model 30+ years ago, but ended up replacing with a natural like yours. Mine has DiMarzio's as well. A popular replacement for P basses.

i put money down on this today and i'm pickin it up tomorrow. this thing is absolutely amazing it's incredible it sounds so good. here's a picture for now from the store i'll take more when i get it tomorrow

back in about 1978, eventually had 3 pickups in it - a jazz by the bridge, the precision, and an EBO up b the fingerboard. All early Bartolinis. Put a badass bridge on it, and hated the sound after that. Sold it eventually, had 5 knurled knobs, a chrome pickguard, and a purple velvet lined anvil road case - weighed about 200 lbs.
