This finally solved it for me. These resistors are obstructed by a support bar and I didn't see the holes on the pcb under it where this fell off. Thank you kindly!
Any idea what this white grease is? I want to wipe it off but not if it's important

Good news.
You’d have to show me an image of the grease.
There is typically a white grease under power transistors. It acts as improve heat transfer. It needs to be under the transistors but often seeps out if too much is applied. You can wipe it off any excess if this is what it is.
Thanks for commenting on my post. My CR-165B holds a special place with me as I used it for every gig in my town of 3000 growing up. Now I play for a church that has 14,000 and uses all the bells and whistles with IEM and Abelton, so the "Sprint Series" amps have been fun for me to get back into. Didn't know these were part of a series tbh.
I just picked one up for $75 canadian. Love it! You can really dial into some nice tones. Thanks for the info. It helped my decision.
No problem, I have my eye on another I am trying to snag on the cheap.
I am running it quite flat on the EQ and just using the bright and warmth knobs to taste. Pretty nice stuff.
I'm familiar with this amp. I bought this new with matching cab (2 x 10" + 1 x 18") around 1986. It had some hard miles put on it, then went into hibernation along with my musical "career". When I started playing again I tried out many different amp / cabinet configurations without finding happiness. Finally I dusted this off and plugged it in. Hard to describe but it has a grit and fullness to it that brings me joy. Love it with the berg610 which is a little easier to pack around. Always fun to see the confusion on peoples faces.

how would the amp sound with a 200w/300w cabinet at 8ohms compared to its 4 ohm cabinet the amp recommends. would it loose its character at 8 omhs?

I used with both 4 and 8 ohm cabs. No change in character. Both sounded fine to my ears.
Cabs and speakers were completely different, so impossible for me to tell based strictly on impedance. I never felt the amp was particularly loud with the 4 or 8 ohm. This was not an amp that "punched above it's weight" in my experience, but it did sound really good.
I also worked at SLM/Crate for a stint in '91. Gotta clean this bad boy up...
I know this is a bit of a zombie thread, but man, glad I found this. I couldn’t remember the model name/number of this amp. I bought one new in about 1987. Had the matching 2x15” cab. My first ‘real’ bass amp. Got a lot of mileage out of it. Toured that beast across Canada. Don’t miss loading that cab in and out of a van though, that’s for sure.
Keeping the zombie thread fed. I am waiting for one of these to show up on my doorstep. My main cab is a Mesa 1x15, but.....the local music store has the BE-18210. For $99. I don't gig, no band prospects, no nothing other than writing/recording. What to do.
Hey again zombie thread. This was an amp I always wanted to try out and read good things about them. Thankfully they're cheap and built well. Here's a fixer upper I got...it didn't need anything other than a new power cord (spliced & chewed one pictured below) and a little clean up. Tolex scrubbed, a little rust removal, polished some metal, sprayed the pots, added some silver tops to a few knobs. This amp kills!
