I was able to receive this wonderful instrument from another wonderful TBer. I Believe it is a late 81' but I can't find another one like it. It is a hog with a maple neck. Is there a way to tell if it is an 81' or early 82'? #b008218 . Any information about this instrument would be great.
Thank you so much,
Christian

I've seen it referred to as black crinkle, although it is flat/matte black.
Thank you very much I've also seen very crinkled paint on other basses in the same year, so I was confused as to whether there was a difference. And I was wondering if that could determine the exact date and electronic set up. This thing is a tone monster!!!

Thank you,
Christian

You're welcome.

How are you liking the neck?
These early basses had a wide nut and were thinner front-to-back. I dig the neck on my '81.

I am loving it. very easy to play.
Do you have a maple fretboard? I have not been able to find a hog/maple anywhere on the web. Or I would buy another one.
