1981 G&L l2000e? Recommended strings? Recommended amp please ?

And fretboard?
And what is the coolest amp to play through.

I know it is a personal choice but I am curious

Thank you
Christian

Nice! I have an 82/83, not sure date of manufacture, bought in 83'. Looks a lot like yours except for rosewood board. Mine has the black crinkle paint on the bridge and control plate. This bass will outlive all of us with minimal care. A tank for sure, but well balanced. There isn't much you could do to make this sound bad, but id go for a modern D class micro amp and lightweight speakers, why bust your hump for no reason? This thing has some real thick bottom, so id opt for a single 15 with a 12 extension cab like the Mesa Subway.

@JTE
I think I remember you posting about the early days of dealing w/G&L before.
IIRC, didn't you receive a batch with faulty paintjobs?
Not bad paint, though we did transfer a really fine F100 to another dealer, who said they ran into quite a few ebony boards separting from the maple. We dropped them due to business problems with G&L at the same time Fender started making really fine instruments again. Plus, it seemed Leo wasn't as involved as he had been at the start.
