1981 Ibanez Musician MC824 - NBD

Those are some of my favorite pickups ever. I'm 95% a flatwounds guy, but a bass with these pickups and some nice rounds is a thing of beauty. Congrats!

Yes. I think of my four old Ibanez basses, the Blazer P with the old cream dimarzio will get flats.

I play through the classic 800RB/Bag End stack setup and this bass really brings out that GK burpy growl- playing along with Zenyatta Mondatta, this was the tone.

Ha! I remember those basses from back in the 80's, nicely made bass. I remember them being heavy, fog of time maybe? Ibanez STILL has the best made bass for the money out there.

I should purchase a good luggage scale (I also like to build up bicycles).

This Musician is surprisingly modest in terms of weight. It has brass saddles and a brass nut. The mahogany/birds eye maple bodied SR I traded for it actually seemed a little heavier.

It's not a light bass though. Just not a boat anchor that you might expect. My guess is upper 9's? My Roadster is a little heavier, but it has the actives and big fat tuners. Maybe the Musician is 10 and the Roadster 11. Will check.

Love the Musician series. The prices have really started to grow in the last few years, especially on really good condition examples.

I had a later model one, blond neck thru a little smaller body. It was the best 4 string bass I've ever owned. I still have sellers remorse and I sold it 15 yrs ago.
The Ibanez Musician is the one bass that Ibanez should bring back and in a 5 string version as well. (jmho)
