This is a beautiful and rather rare 1982 Yamaha BB-2000F fretless bass. There were very few of these unlined BB-2000's made. I've been told that the actual number was only 115 worldwide. I can't verify that but I've never seen another one.

This one has a very pretty Antique Burst finish. The finger board is Ebony and the neck-through design really gives this bass a wonderfully organic fretless tone. The electronics are stock and passive. Volume, Tone and a 3 way Pick-up selector toggle switch.

The bass has a few bumps and bruises but over all it's in great shape for being over 32 years old. The fingerboard is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear.

A few years ago I had Michael Dolan install "hash mark" style fret position markers on the edges of the fingerboard to facilitate easier in-tune playing. Not an easy thing to do on an already put together neck through bass. He did a great job as you can see in the photos.

The bass will ship in a non-original vintage style HSC that is also in great condition.

Apparently a lot of folks on TB feel that way. Fretless basses don't seem to sell nearly as easily as fretted basses. Honestly the "hash marks" on this bass make it much easier to play. Particularly for those who are use to frets and have limited fretless experience.....

You're are totally right, those marks are a big help, I'm just too lazy and stressed out to pick up a fretless again but this one is really tempting.

I received the BB-2000F last night and I am very pleased, thank you. You did a fine job of packaging it and it's in great shape. The action is fast and low as promised, I love the sound, and it's even more attractive than your photos. I appreciate the time you took on the phone to answer my many questions...you are a class act!
