Up for sale - one very lovely 1992 G&L Clear Red L-2000. Ash body, rosewood fingerboard.. Weighs in at 9.9 lbs. This bass is all stock with one exception, a simple wiring modification for the "K-Mod". Still all stock, but a couple of wiring destinations changed so the pickup choices now are Parallel or Single Coil vs the stock Parallel/Series. The two single coil choices are the inner coils and they are super musical and useable. The neck single coil is a really nice defined P tone with a bit more attack than a typical P , the neck single coil is a full sounding defined solo tone. Being a 92' this was part of the year or two-ish long "Leo Fender" signature run where his sig appears on the upper horn.
Neck: VERY good condition. G&L #6 Slim profile. 1 1/2" nut with a nice depth. 7.5" Radius. So, vintage Jazz feel. Not too skinny though. Jumbo Frets have almost no fret-wear, Rosewood board has some nice figuring, truss rod works great, no ski jump or humps, no fret buzz, no fret sprout, matte finish. Plays really nicely.
Body: Good condition. No chips, but a few scratches on the back (see photos), really lovely ash figuring and the red is as vibrant as the day it left the factory 32 years ago.
Hardware: all stock and functions perfectly, very little wear.
Case: Old and tattered but fully functional. I don't believe it's an original G&L.. I could be wrong.
Strung with D'Addario Chrome flats.. And they sound really really good both finger style and slapped.
