Hey Guys, I have a chance to purchase an 1997-1998American Jazz for $600. It looks new with all the case candy, etc. Is this a good deal? Any issues with this year that you know of? Thanks!

Not a deluxe? 2 years ago I bought a 1997 deluxe for $650... but then I sold it last year for $950, so the value apparently went up... So $600 might be right. Check Ebay.

last year I bought an ash blueburst '97 deluxe P ( american ) for $500.00
I sold it over the summer for $850.00 shipped , I cleared about 8 bills... doesnt sound bad if its clean

Yeah - where did this zany inflation come from? Seriously - I bought that J bass for $650 (which was the going price, not a great deal) on ebay no more than... 2 1/2 years ago... And sold it a little over a year ago for $950... It makes no sense at all (Not that I was complaining...)
Great deal IMO. I had a '97 Standard Jazz V which was a great bass, I sold it for $650 about 2-3 years ago.
They are great, really any MIA from late 90s to now should be pretty decent and you need to look hard to find a really bad one. I love my 97 although the neck is not stable as I would like, and the frets had to be dressed to achieve low action
