1999/2000 AVRI 62 Precision Bass

I recently acquired my all time dream Precision (I have 7 others 😬). A Fiesta red 62 spec which happens to be from the 1999-2000 run of AVRIs. This thing is seriously beautiful and ticks all the boxes for me, but it got me a little curious about the opinions on the reissues from this particular era. I was surprised to see that there’s not a ton of info about these out there, so I figured I’d start a thread! Have you ever owned one? How do they stack up to the other “American Vintage” type P’s they’ve done before and since? I know they’re not as sought after as the Fullerton basses, but I’m curious what other TB’ers have to say about them!

I just listened to a YouTube podcast on SBL with Sean Hurley and he said his first real P was a '62 AVRI Fender P. He brought it to a studio where they had a rented '65 P and the producers told them to return the '65, the '62 AVRI was better.
Which says very little about those models in general. In my experience, they all sound different and you have to evaluate the specific bass, not the model, year or country of origin.

I had an AVRI that sucked. Doesn't mean all of them do. I have a Squier that is awesome. Doesn't mean all of them are.

Mine is Dec. 2000 too.
Serial #V121491
This P-bass with a 1.75" nut width is the real thing.
Qualitywise, Custom Shop models are only just a hair above.
To me, much better looking when torted.
