Cannot wait to see how this turned out. I'm thinking of hacking (no offense intended to OP, just acknowledging my lack of skills) a bass body out of a big 'ol chunk of lumber now.

No offense taken! I used a hacksaw for some of the biggest cuts, and I had no real idea what I was doing to begin with.

I will get pics up tonight. I took some on the iPhone my wife usually carries, instead of mine, and never got the pics uploaded.

As for finished weight, it's mega light. Lightest I own. The balance is terrible due to the big honkin' Peavey tuners and short upper horn. I'm gonna remedy that with a longer strap lock screw and a metal spacer between the horn and the strap button, though.

I'm planning on rounding off the upper horn a little bit more, closer to a Jag or Tele. Also got a lot of finish sanding, wood puttying, and then to decide on what color(s) to finish it. I was thinking about Tung oil, but have gone back to my decision to use milk paint.

I also gotta figure out what to do about the headstock. I don't want to remove the logo, since I may swap it back onto one of my T-40's at some point. This neck plays amazing. Super low action. The pickup sounds great. Even with only a volume control, there's a lot of tonal versatility.

I think some sort of older looking finish would compliment that. I would say stay with milk paint, but it's your decision. If you do decide to dedicate that neck to that body, which I would recommend, you should strip it, and refinish that in whatever fashion you decide to do the body.

I really do love the control plate, and I wish I could do something like that for a bass of mine
