2 bass gig bag question

I'm looking for one to simplify carrying my basses to gigs since I always need exactly 2. It seems my only options are either spend $400+ for a mono case or $100 for something that looks pretty unreliable. I can't seem to find anything that falls in between. Any suggestions?

My 2-bass Reunion Blues case was in between. It was around $300 new, but that was a few years ago. Nice and solid with separate sleeves for each - no padded divider like the Levy’s one I destroyed.
I’d sell you mine as I only bring 2 basses on occasion now, and have 2 Pro-Tech Contego cases that are bullet-proof. Problem is that shipping would likely eat up any saving vs you finding it retail with free shipping.
Still, if you want to discuss further, let’s take it off-list. Be aware though, no pics until the end of the week as I’m out of the US atm.

Gator Pro Go is a dual case that’s less expensive than the Mono, and also less durable. They do have great warranty support, though. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I’m still using my replacement Gator dual bag. No issues. I’ve still got the Mono M80 dual, and the original Gator. The Gator bags are the only ones that fit my Thunderbird.

that said: my axes are very lightweight (any two = 13-14 lbs.), so that bag works great (two separate sleeves!). i'm thinking that the shape and weight of your axes have more to do with the bag you should get (therefore: the cost) than anything else, e.g., two heavy axes --- and/or uniquely shaped --- need a heavier duty bag.

I guess time will tell. So far holding up well, but Being aware of the other failure, Im more careful. The new one was a bit of a different design. Not sure if it has better materials. The old one had redundant mounting points for the strap, one of which tore. The new one only has one set of mounting locations.

I bought the World Tour Double Bass Gig Bag of Amazon, and I really like it. All of the zippers work well. I replace the zipper pulls with key rings.

There are a ton of pockets. I can fit a bunch of stuff in there. The only limiting factor is that the bag gets so heavy when I really stock it up.

It has fallen over and I didn't sustain any damage to my bass.

Best of all it is 50 dollars. I usually carry my mic and guitar stand in the back part.

I just picked up a Reunion Blues RBX2B from Amazon for $199. Really pleased with it so far. Only slightly thicker than my Mono M80 Single . I transport my own gear and it has plenty of protection for my needs without being overly bulky.

Wow, this thread just sent me on a trip.

I have a Lakland double gig bag that I bought in the late '90s. It has held up very well over the years and I've always been scared that I'd have to replace it. I always assumed it was something that Lakland bought and had their name screened on but I never thought about looking for the original manufacturer. I was taking pictures for this thread and came across a little tag inside, "Under Cover Cases, Denver Colorado". Shoot! it had been there the whole time.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available. I found their address in an MMR Magazine archive, but that address is now an irrigation company.

Oddly, there's a separate company in NYC with the same name that makes custom bags. No prices listed online (if you have to ask...).

In other words, I have nothing useful to add to the conversation, just a story to tell. I must be getting old now that I think some of these tales are worth telling.

That's really interesting that Lakland would have sold their own double case!

I use the iGig double bass bag, which has enough carrying space for big honkin' instruments and enough kit that you have to do squats to lift the bag.

The downside is, they seem to be out of business, so the bags aren't easy to find. It's not for lack of quality, that's for sure. I think I spent around $200-210 and consider it a good investment.

It’s over 10 years old or so but I have a two bass Fender bag. Backpack straps , pockets, etc….
