at alocal shop near me they have a new eden 550 for 930....pretty ncie price...if you can find one of them in that range go for it, or get a used one for 7-8hundred.

2-Ohm Head on da cheap

When I was looking for a backup amp I needed something that could handle 2 ohms. I ended up getting an Acoustic 370 cheap. Good EQ section and loud.

I have the T-Max too. Hi-Fi it ain't, but it sounds good, has plenty of oomph, and is reliable as get out.

I can get my T-Max to sound hi-fi...but I run through a ZoomB2 so my amp choice doesn't make all that much difference. The T-Max has a tube preamp which sounds fairly good...but with the ZoomB2 I get almost any kind of sound and tone out of it.
About the only amp(s) that would make me switch from my T-Max is a Mesa 400+ (for full on tube), or perhaps the Carvin B1500 (for headroom).

From what I've read so far, I think the Acoustic, Sunn, and EA might be overkill as far as ampage. I've read that some people find the EA a bit flat or sterile. I've heard bad things about the reliability of the WT-550, and consequently worse things about their customer support. Every Mesa I've seen live has blown up, and a review on Harmony Central mentions reliability issues on 2 of these amps, so I'm hesitant to head that way.
Though the Acoustic would be perfect (5 lbs - I have back problems), it may be overkill. Technically I could get a more powerful amp and just run it low, with lots of headroom. So that would leave the Sunn, Genz-Benz (which I've heard great things about), Acoustic, and the Eden WT-405.
If I don't end up finding a used one, I'll probably get the WT-405 which is fine with me. I tried that amp out today, and it sounded great. Easy to use, too.
Any opinions?

Looks like my top choices are the Genz-Benz (all around nice), Eden WT-405 (pretty much perfect except for the low wattage), Acoustic (headroom so I don't strain my amp running it at 2 ohms).
I've only tried the Eden in person, and I liked it very much. I love the simplicity of the EQ (and how it has a mid-shift and dynamic boosts), the new enhance knob, the practice mode, mute switch, and quality/easy compressor. I plan on running a 210 at 350 watts and a 115 at 400 watts (750 total), but the 405 only gets up to 620. I'm worried I might cause too much strain on the amp running it on 2 ohms with those speakers.
Thoughts?
