2 Pickup wiring schematics help.

I got 1 pickup-set that consist of 2 coils like a humbucker all the way along all 4 strings side by side only that one of the coils, the poles takes care of the E and A strings, and the other the poles takes care of the D and G strings.

This i'd like to get wired up with a 3 way switch, a single coil pup and one vol and one tone.

The 2 coil pickup has wires for start/end for both coils.


What would be the most obvious thing to do here?

I am a bit confused on this pickup.
Is this like a P bass pickup under one housing, like the Dimarzio jazz bass pickups?

It's like this, both coils go all the way from A to B

Ok, i drew you up a schematic for volume, tone and a 3 way switch.

connect the + from one coil to the - of the other, and use the remaining + as the hot, and the remaining - as the ground.

I will have a look at this tomorrow when I get that dual coil thing back from the guy who is fixing the coils (they where both broken), since I have both start and end on both those coils, how would I connect those?

Hmm, sorry to sound stupid here, but what do I do with the output jack ground???

Ground is common. Solder it to the back of one of the pots.

If your properly shielded, you dont need to connect it to anything.

or as slyjoe said, just connect to the back of one of the pots.

The wiring went great, shielding did apparently succeed as I didn't need to solder the second wire for the output, however, the switch must have been a bit weird. In the second mode (on-ON-on) the sound was really nasal and sounded like something that may be out of phase, but in the other two modes it sounds ok, ie. one mode for the neck humbucker and the other mode for the bridge single coil, I assumed the mid mode should be a combined mode but instead the sound was just thin and very farty.

wired like this on the switch's three pins:

___ To the Humbucker Hot
|___ To the pot
|___ To the Single coil Hot

If it sounds out of phase, you could invert the polarity of one pickup and see if that helps
