2 questions about eb cobalt flats

I've played both and like the chromes better. there was something "off" with the g for the cobalts compared with the other strings. Both sets actually settle in quite nice and lose their round-like tone after a while.

I think that refers to the windings coming loose from the core...

The strings look good but sound a bit dead. They aren't corroded and are clean but don't have the sustain and tone.

I had La Bella Copper Tapes 50-105 on my Schecter for a while tuned in E standard. Nice and light. Now I've got Ernie Ball Cobalt flats 50-105 tuned in D standard and the tension is noticeably higher. I probably could have been just fine with the 45-100 set in D but I didn't want to risk floppiness.

I'd say try the 45-105 (sort of a compromise between the two I have listed) set and see what you think!

Based on the posts of others and my calculations 45-105 seems to be my choice...

Chromes are just more mellow sounding to me, and I prefer the Cobalts

I think next strings change on my rounds bass, I'll go with Pressure Wounds.

I agree. The Cobalts retain their brightness whereas the Chromes drift more toward flatwound land as they age. I like them both equally though.
