Hi Y'all,
I'm a bass player and a synth "player" (lots of sequencing
)... However, I only have one amp. Most of the gigs I do have PA-support, but there's always the occasional gig in a small bar where the amp has to do all of the work.
I've been trying to figure out how to take the whole circus to the stage and came up with some options. I thought that maybe it'd be best to win the advice of some sound pro's or live sound engineers on which option would cause the least problems
.
instruments:
Oberheim SEM analogue synth (line level signal - high output/no volume knob)
Korg Monotribe groovebox (line level signal)
Musicman Stingray
amp
Fender bassman clone (120 watt tube amp) + 2x15
Option A:
groovebox into the external input of the synthesizer => passive attentuater to bring the level of the synth down to +/- the level of my bass => true bypass looper (bass to "in", synth to "return").
One DI after the true bypass looper or one DI for each instrument (not really sure yet)?
Option B:
Small 4 channel mixer. Each instrument to one of the inputs (mackie has a small mixer that can accept instrument levels and line levels alike). The output of the mixer is line level, so I'd run it through a reamp before running it into the tuber.
Again, One DI after the mixer or one seperate DI for each instrument (again, not sure
)?
So, are these decent solutions or should I win some more information before deciding to go Geddy-style
?
anyhow, thanks a lot!
Kim
