When I use a cord "not offen" the road guys tape a section of it to the floor close to amp seems to work maybe stops it from turning?

A neat trick is to make sure there are no twists in it when you first get set up, plug one end into your amp, figure-8 it on the floor in front of your amp, then plug in to your bass. In a figure-8, the coils don'e have as great a chance of getting under each other and making a mess when you start wandering around.
Works great for me--and I use a thick Mogami stereo cable. My only problem is I've noticed I must turn around one way on stage more than another--I eventually end up with twists even when I started out with the cable straight...but that's more of a "choreography"/stage-awareness thing than anything.
