$20 Mosky Black Rat

I also have the Eno but haven't opened it up to see if it's a 308; I bought it for my guitar board, never even played it with my bass.

Not that I need ANOTHER Rat
well if you have multiple rat clones, Burt Macklin, set one at lower distortion and the other higher, label them mouse & rat. That way when you play Mouse Rat songs you can use both.

OP was mainly referring to the Turbo mode, which probably engages LED diodes, which are always bass heavier. Your pedal loses lots of lows even on turbo? Either way, I'm still cool with my purchase because $20 is nothing to spend for an LM308 equipped rat clone, and it can always be thrown in a blend. But I would be curious to see how you're running yours.
Well, it’s been about 2 years, and I only tried it for a few minutes. I just know I much preferred it on guitar. I think it was too much high end for me on bass, most likely. It’s the thing that kills most dirt for me on bass.

But I now have a Volt Thrower, so I’m good on Rats for bass now!

Exactly. I’ve played almost all the boutique versions, curiousity gets the best of me on some of these. And having some of the joyo brand clones, I’ve had some good opinions about most of them.

I’ve been playing around with both Joyo and Mooer pedals lately. Un-freakin’-believable how good those things sound for what they cost! The Orange Juice, Golden Face, and a Mooer bass sweeper are on my board now.

Weeeelll, it might stack really nicely with the Plague Doctor I have coming in the mail....

This guy makes a great review of this pedal, specially concerning the electronic components in the first part of the review.
One thing that's interesting is that he says that the original sound of the Mosky is darker than an original RAT because of a resistor that is related with the filter side of the pedal. That should be a good thing for bass.

Uh oh, how many builders now are going to have to field requests to change that little resistor!? I like my treble so I'm a bit concerned about how "dark" the pedal is, but again, for $20 does it really matter. Pretty eye opening video though since he basically says it's the same as a $150 clone.

Yeah I noticed that is does have a darker quality to it. But I just bumped the filter up a little more. Fixed.

I know everyone's definition of what "good with the low end" is. But to me, I feel that the Mosky responded better to low end even better than my RT. I really think that it will perform really well in a band mix with low end. And the tonal quality of it will hopefully fit this newer bands sound more. Because I'd really like to use a rat with them. My RT has way too much high mid clank (which I personally LOVE!) for this new band I've been playing with. It simply doesn't fit them. So I have high hopes for the Black Rat.

I gotta watch that video above. Thanks for posting @Nunovsky

The turbo mode actually feels/sounds a little like "no diodes" in a way. It really opens the sound up and it gets much louder. LED's always seemed to zap the volume but bring a more pleasing gain structure. But the turbo brings the balls on this pedal.

Interesting. I always find LED's to open up the sound and increase volume. I'm actually a fan of different diodes for sheer sound of clipping, but regardless for bass LED's always seem to work really well no matter what pedal they are in.

does it have the 308 in it?
I'd never thought to check my clone for Proco accuracy, and while I was curious for a sec...

This mostly ended that curiosity.

Maybe three more than are already fielding cap and led swaps?

Just got it and tried it out...not bad at all. I'd guess Turbo mode is LED mode, too. Wasn't too usable for bass in Vintage mode, but Turbo mode had some decent low end. However, the MXR Bass Distortion does seem to have more bottom in both modes, so its position on my board is pretty safe. Sounds like a Rat, though, and will likely get some use with guitar...if I get another guitar gig, which hasn't happened for a while.
