According to that whitesheet the LM308 chip can run on 18V. Does that imply this pedal could? Would there be any benefit?

I would be wary of the Capacitors, they might not be rated high enough.
On the other hand, it really comes down to: is the experiment worth $25?
fair point. It's actually more about the length of time waiting for replacement, but i am not wasteful by nature.
The boarf of the Black Rat are in fact 2 boards stacked. Beneath that small board is another one with the rest of the components. You can see that in the first first video that I posted.
That explains it, I have one on the way so I'll be able to tear into when it gets here.

I see some things I may want. Esp a fakenbacker with a maple fretboard in natural finish. And those fake RD basses.

I don't really want a Rick or a Stingray. That's why I've been looking at clones for the past hour.
I already have a Ric that I love. But I want to play out and now I'm ocd about it.(uaed my pops money he left me years ago to buy it after he passed)
And some of their natural ones with maple fretboards look neat. And they're actually a neck-through.
Hopefully not too much of a derail: How well do Centaur Klon type pedals do with bass?
the klon works great with bass. The klon is the signal path is split into three frequency bands, the lows are always retained, while the gain knob blends from clean to overdrive while also pushing up the gain.
Respectfully disagree. IME, the Centaur circuit is not known as a bass heavy circuit and will create a sort of smeary sound when used. I have a Dunwich bass Centaur which addressed the low end and sounds great, but a stock Centaur will give you enough bass cut to make a big difference.
Beware. This is the same video that led me on my expensive and ultimately fruitless Centaur hunt. Everntually stumbled on a Dunwich Centaur Bass clone, but as the name implies, it was specially built for bass. I wish you luck though and hope it works for you.
I keep thinking the same thing. Maybe that's why they are becoming more rare?
