2019 Ashdown Triple Shot vs 2024 Ashdown Triple Shot - what's the diff?

Other than aesthetics, what's the difference between the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and the newly released 2024 Ashdown Triple Shot? I've been on a hunt to figure out the differences, but everything I'm reading on the 2024 version basically says the same thing as the 2019 flavor. I get the general feeling that the new version has been cheapened somehow, but I don't have anything to really support that other than the "Made in United Kingdom" on the 2019 and the higher price tag.

I would tend to make the same assumptions. I'd also not hesitate to grab one of the new ones, though I dig the old ascthetic better. They do a solid job IMO with their overseas fabrication.

I emailed Ashdown with the same question. Dave Green @ Ashdown was very helpful. Older version needs 18v power, new version runs on 9v. The other thing I considered was the size difference. Older version being smaller and I don't need a vu meter.
Dave's response.

"Regarding the triple shot the circuit for the sound part remains the same the changes are the addition of the vu meter to bring it in line with the rest of the pedal range

9v as oppose to 18V would normally reduce the headroom but in this instance it makes no difference since this is a distortion pedal

You do need a good low noise LINEAR pedal power supply such as a VOODOO labs unit , the cheap supplies will prove to be noisy"


I did have a bit more difficulty finding the older version and it was more expensive than I could have purchased an new version.

I found an older version on eBay, so I went ahead and picked it up. Unfortunately, my light roast doesn't add distortion to the high band as it should. I emailed Ashdown just yesterday to see what they can do, so we'll see what they respond with. Still curious why the new version is so much cheaper than the old one.
