It's on, it's going to be irrelevant, and I will probably watch a bit anyway. The Seahawks play Denver tonight. I'll miss it because of a rehearsal. The starters might get in for a play or two, so it's all about prospects and depth.

Denver already played a game. Either we are slacking or I missed the other thread.

We'll be in Seattle this afternoon. While I don't consider myself a fan of the local NFL team here in Seattle, I do like the vibe in an NFL city on game day.
It seems like nearly every season there is a player or two, or three, playing for a job who makes some kind of impact and makes a team.
While some fans think the preseason is too long, boring, or wasteful, I sure love watching those guys with an outside chance to make the team give it all they got for a few more drives as they chase that dream.
The good players, the ones that are a lock to make the team, are fun to watch too but there are times when they play like they already know they are on the team, so who cares if the finish a tackle, fight for that extra yard, run down that player from the other side of the field even though they may not catch him, or reach a little higher for that catch or INT.

I am a fair weather homer when it comes to football. Baseball is another issue. But, I have been getting more dedicated to Seahawks fandom over the years. Maybe it's being old and stationary, or maybe it's just because they have had some amusing and compelling characters lately. Say what you will about them, they are not buttoned down and boring in any kind of corporate manner. With the occasional exception, they seem to play for each other as much as they play for the coaching staff. You don't have to like them, like what they say, or agree with them, but they earned my respect recently as a team that plays and thinks as a team.

Even the offensive and defensive linemen got along with each other. What's up with that? Every year is different, with different characters. It's fun to see who and what emerges.

My allegiance is to the Green Bay Packers; it's practically genetic. We moved to Green Bay in '61 and ending up living maybe a half mile from Lambeau Stadium. Back then it had a kids section - my younger brother and I went to every Green Bay home game until the kids section was no more (maybe '67?). Long story short, this bond with the Pack has followed me around the world and back through today. Maybe addiction is the better word.

Let's see how they fare against the Texans tonight. New coach, new offense.

About like I would have expected: virtually no starters played, sloppy at times, exciting at times. Lots of work for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th stringers. Mostly...meh.

Same with what little I saw of last night's Seahawk/Broncos game.

By the way, I hope I wasn't stealing your thunder by starting this thread. NFL thread are usually your provenience.

Here in western NY everyone is going nuts over the Bills beating the Colts in the first pre season game.

I'm confident the bubble will burst soon and the Bills will be back to doing what they do best..... losing games.

No bigger NFL headcase than Antonio "I want to use my own helmet or else." Brown. Maybe he should have to play without one for just one across the middle reception against a safety like Ronnie Lott...yes I am a raiders fan.

Ronnie Lott on one side, Jack Tatum on the other. That should get his attention.

I grew up watching Bart Starr (still the best name ever for a QB) and Green Bay. No team in the NFL has been more blessed with QB talent for the past 20 years than the Pack with Favre and Rodgers.

Followed the Seahawks and have an autograph from every starting QB through about 2010. Now that I live north of Denver, following the Broncos has become interesting. I have hopes for them this year. Even my daughter who is a Green Bay share holder follows the Broncos too.

But college FB is still my favorite, and nothing beats watching the Cougs.
