That's probably the biggest one. It didn't start this year but it really picked up steam this year.4. I am seeing more all in one pedals or pedals offering three or more functions.
They've been doing that off and on forever, but with their own twists, usually.5. MXR started making clones of older designs (Brown Acid Fuzz and Vintage Bass Octave).
The field definitely got super crowded this year and last, but when you want something and find out that only a boutique maker can do it, it gets quite special as far as I'm concerned.7. Boutique has lost some its luster: with so many players making pedals, it's not special anymore.
... Hpf and LPF...
The answer to absolutely everything is “you need a high pass filter”.
Gotta go with the LPF/HPF trend. I’ve had mine for years and love it. Besides that, I just see saturation and options. Too much for me to keep track of, that’s for sure. LOTS of clones of all sorts of pedals, but that’s nothing new.
... And Zod said, Let there be HPFs and LPFs. And there was HPFs and LPFs...I saw pedals and I thought @Stumbo .............
After using the HPF on my LiveTrak L-20 board at home and then last night playing through someone else's PA through an antiquated board with no HPF and going ampless / cab-less with some "farting" issues through their speakers, yeah an HPF pedal is a must for certain situations.Gotta go with the LPF/HPF trend....

The "I want an oc2 but not an oc2" seems to be loosing steam......
That and I'm almost convinced a SA C4 can make coffee between sets.
i am agree about point 3,..and yes darkglass has higher price,...and dont forget ebs is their competitor,..and by the way ,....people nowaday finding the tone they want,...between darkglass and ampeg,..i still pick ampeg...not because cheaper or quality.,...but the tone is basically different2019 is almost a wrap!
What were the trends changes you saw in the world of bass pedals?
Here are some of my observations:
1. A saturated market: too many options to keep track of.
2. They all want a piece of the pie: everybody's making pedals even companies which historically never made any (Boss, EH, MXR now have way more competition).
3. Darkglass continues to dominate the high end (meaning expensive) market.
4. I am seeing more all in one pedals or pedals offering three or more functions.
5. MXR started making clones of older designs (Brown Acid Fuzz and Vintage Bass Octave).
6. EH is reissuing some of their own historic designs (Ram's Head, Triangle Big Muff Pi, Green Russian Big Muff....).
7. Boutique has lost some its luster: with so many players making pedals, it's not special anymore.
Would love some concrete examples of that. Not arguing with you, I just would like a sense of what I am missing, as I have been on a pedal light diet for the last few years.
If the PA was "farting" the FOH tech was sleeping on the job. It's standard procedure to put a low cut on just about everything as a "default" setting during soundcheck to prevent such situations. After using the HPF on my LiveTrak L-20 board at home and then last night playing through someone else's PA through an antiquated board with no HPF and going ampless / cab-less with some "farting" issues through their speakers, yeah an HPF pedal is a must for certain situations.
After cutting out all of my presence, drive, and some of the gain, and then some of the bass on my Sansamp Bass Driver DI I finally got the "farting" to quit but at the expense of volume across the whole frequency spectrum of my bass. An HPF probably would have helped me to keep the volume up some on the mid range and high freqs by dropping the db levels on on the lower freqs.
Had I been playing through my board(L-20), or my GK gear, this would have never been an issue. But I'm starting to play out more without dragging out my GK gear and my L-20 board is for my home studio recording use and my band. I'm not dragging out a $1000 board to someone else's event just to have an HPF in my signal chain, so I just ordered a Broughton HPF, problem solved.
And there was much rejoicing.... And Zod said, Let there be HPFs and LPFs. And there was HPFs and LPFs...![]()
