2019 Trends in the pedal world

Some of these pedals do not have the technical perfection of modern pedals, particularly when it comes to using them with a bass, but there was a lot of tone there.

I wonder how much of pedals and similar gear has "the tone" and how much were they early enough to define a genre.

Some speculation that a Multiwave Distortion is the next secret One Series pedal. But the Aftershock covers all sorts of distortion and fuzz. It seems to benquite the popular pick, especially to pair with the C4. They also just put out the best envelope filter possibly ever in the Spectrum, which is also inside the C4. Curious to see what that next pedal is come NAMM time...

Yep. There’s a huge thread on TGP about a replacement for the Multiwave.

Another trend that remains constant: Boss with well over 15 million pedals sold worldwide* since they started as a separate brand from Roland remains the 20 ton gorilla in an environment of really small players.

*Figure published by Boss in January of 2017. By now they might be around 17+ million pedal sold.

Boss starting to sell patch cables 2-3 years ago seems like an obvious market that should have been entered 40 years ago.
