Bruh! No money for basses. >>>> You’ve got two kidneys...You can get by with just the one...Just finished an office remodel. Next month we're doing new hardwood floors in our home. Bruh! No money for basses.
But just for fun, I thought to myself, if I could have any new bass, what would it be? After some thought, I decided it would be incredible to have a custom-made Dingwall. Think about it, fanned-frets, custom top, Glockenklang or maybe even a Darkglass pre. My mouth started watering. So I reached out and just got an email back.
Price is about what I expected (a lot!)... okay
30% down... um, okay
Build time: 2.5 YEARS!!
Even if I wanted to buy one, I wouldn't have it til mid-2025! Good grief, I'd change my mind 68 times before it was done.
How long would you be willing to wait for a bass build?

In their defense, the email said they were looking to hire new staff which could shorten wait times. But that could also just be them trying to soften the blow of having to quote 2 1/2 years.Ridiculous .. they should at least commit on the bass’ ETA accepting to discount its final price by a daily fee of at least 150 USD per day of delay
Jokes aside, it’s a too long, unbearable waiting time .. it’s obvious that they to hire and train more people .. it seems like two times and a half the Fender CS waiting time
At the end of the day it’s down to the builder. If they have enough staff, they can build a house in six weeks.

Sorry, but I don’t believe you. We’ll be seeing an NBD from you some time this year. At least one. You can always sell to fund the next purchase, right?![]()

I waited six or seven months for a stock Ibanez. I can't imagine ever thinking I was good enough to warrant a custom build. But if I did, I'd try find someone who could deliver within a year. I could be dead in three. How long would you be willing to wait for a bass build?
Trick is to put in an order for a bass with a 7 year build time..then one with a 6 year build time...same for 5, 4, 3, etc.
Then by the time a new year comes around and you're thinking of a new bass, one's always just about to arrive.
I see no flaws with this plan.
