20k for a fender jazz bass...worth it?

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&Category=4713&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2

the guy is asking for almost 20k his bass. seriously are basses worth that much? i dont really know how to price high end basses that well so just wondering if any of you guys would pay that much for that bass if you had the money

how about 225 for a thumb rest?

seriously how much better can a thumb rest be that you would pay like 200 more for it?

i understand that these have collectors value but still, i really dont see it but there must be a market for it if ppl list them this high

i've met and dealt with "tun-o-matic before". he's a great guy and has a house full of absolutely amazing vintage fender guitars basses and amps. when i was there a few years ago, he pulled out two 1956 strats in mint condition, complete with thire hang tags and original tweed cases. one was burst and the other one was fiesta red. he told me that he paid $75K for the fiesta red one and had been offered $100K for it.

IMO, he has some of the best, all original, unmolested rare fenders bar none.

If it didn't have the discoloration on the back of the body, it could easily go over $15K. Charcoal Frost Metallic is a very rare color.
Those '66 necks are sweet, but I'd be a little worried about a bass that has obviously spent many many years in it's case.
