$2100 and not sure what to do with it.

If you have friends who game, get a X-Box 360 and a few rechargeable controllers. Also get a gold account/13 month card or whatever. Drop the rest on a Hi-Def set-up for all your gaming needs. Your bass needs are met for the moment as you said, so save anything leftover from the set-up for any gear you may want/need in the future.

With 3K you could easily get both.

Shop around for the TV.

Get a life, you won't need a PS3.:smug:

Then get a new amp. I bet that Ibanez would sound mighty fine through a nice rig. You can get a nicer bass later.

I am shopping around. I research stuff well in advance before buying anything and as of right now, I'm looking at a 32" RCA for a little less than $400. I'm also thinking of doing some comparison shopping in the pawn shops. I see some nice HDTV's in them and I'm pretty sure they'll be even less expensive than what I can buy in any store.

I've got a life but still want the PS3 and the Ibanez did sound very good through my rig before I sold it. It was an Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp, Eden 2x10 and 1x15 xlt.

Most all of my friends are musicians and gamers. My minds pretty much set on what gaming system I'm getting and I'm almost certain that I'm going with the PS3. It has certain features that the X-Box 360 doesn't, like built in wireless ability, game sharing on up to 5 PS3's, I don't have to pay a $50 yearly or the $8.00 monthly fee to game on line with the PS3 like you do the X-Box 360, Blue Ray capability, and from what I've been hearing from a friend who's very much in the know on the systems, the X-Box 360 isn't as reliable as the PS3.

try an investment. Invest now, and once the economy rebounds, you'll have even more $.

I can't believe I didn't see this thread before.

That's actually not a bad idea. If I were to invest, I'd more than likely only invest half of whatever I have. I just have one problem with investing. I don't even know where to begin should I decide to invest. I also have no clue of what to even invest in. Perhaps you can give me some pointers in what to do.

The way used gear prices are right now, I'd say you can get a new bass and make a good investment at the same time. CDs are paying ~3% right now ... yippee. Stocks are risky and have already priced in the rebound. But when I'm seeing a bass that would have sold for $1700 two years ago advertised at $1350 and not selling, I think that might be a good way to go.

Invest it, short term CDs (6 months at the most) as a chicken fund. You won't make much extra at first, due to no compounding interesting, but it's a great idea for short-term investments that carry little risk since your money will only be, at the most, 6 months away.

Peace,
Greg

What are the interest rates on the short term CDs and what are the dollar amounts you have to use for purchasing one of these. Also how do you go about obtaining them? Do you just go to a bank?

No worries there, I am keeping my eyes on used basses but if I go for an amp then it will have to be new. I don't generally trust used electronics and speakers because you cannot see the wear and tear on them. So IMO its almost always a crap shoot because you never know how long it may last.
