So, I had 2hrs to kill while my wife got a massage today and decided to check out a consignment music store. A Sunn 300T and 215 peaked my interest so I gave it a run with a MIJ P Bass. Damn it sounded good. Just to be sure, i plugged in some garbage Fender copies and cheaper heads. Still sounded great. Just amazing tone and perfect for my style of Blues. I'm a younger player so I missed the whole huge amps thing. A 212 and 410 are as big as I've ever owned. Not anymore. This was amazing, cant wait to use it with the Ampeg V4B. My 212 may not see much use anymore.
I love my 215 (an LDS w/3015s & a Selenium D220Ti HF + Selenium HM25-25 Horn). If you like the 215 you played through, super. Generally, for just about all commercial boxes, a 215 & 410 are ~same/same for displacement.
Welcome to the deep side! Over the years I've played through just about every configuration of bass cabs. 15s in general and 2x15 specifically are my favorite and are what I use.
Used to have an old Kasino 2x15s, now I have the Rumble V3 1x15 cabs in a stack. Monstrous, I absolutely love the sound of my two 1x15's
I play a '72 Fender P thru a '68 Bassman into a '72 215. The 215 is definitely the right cab for that particular sound. I've been working toward lighter cabs for bout 5 er 6 years now but that combination rocks and looks cool also. I'm like you, once I played it warmed up and cranked I was sold.
It's all on consignment and the seller wants $2300 AUD. I can get a Fender Bassman 300 PRO new for $1700 AUD
Ouch! Ok, I see your dilemma. I just put the 300T as one of the all time coolest bass amps, but I'd be waffling too :/
