250K EB VP Jr.

I have an Ibanez SR605 with passive pickups (Bartolini MK-1) and an active EQ. Will this volume pedal work for me or should I look at the 25K instead. What would be the pros and cons of the 250K? Thanks in advance!

The 250K is for when you're plugging a passive instrument directly into it, given it's high(ish) input impedance of 250K. The 25K is for accepting a low impedance input - an active bass or the output of an effects pedal for example. If you plugged a passive bass into the 25K, it would load the signal too much and cause treble attenuation typically.

The 250K works for active as well though, in this respect it's more versatile whereas the 25K is for active (low impedance) devices only. If you're never going to plug a passive instrument into the volume pedal, then 25K is fine.

And it can be placed anywhere, first or last, with an active bass and it will be fine? And I could place a 25K at the end of the chain with a passive, and it be fine?

So a 250K is the safest option? And I could use it anywhere in a chain with an active? The 250K won't cause problems with an active bass?

Not necessarily, just that if you happen to be plugging a passive direct into a volume pedal, it needs to be 250K not 25K. There's no 'best' place for it as such.

An active won't mind a 250K or 25K really - it doesn't suffer from the same issues as a passive.

I A/B'ed both 25k and 250k, with active and passive basses, and straight into it or with pedals in front of them, and I couldn't tell any difference in the sweep in either pedal. And it wasn't me alone, there was other people in the room and we also did blind tests. No one could tell the difference.

However the regular 250k is more interesting because it has a little switch to change the sweep response, which the 25k doesn't have.
