I voted for the VM J, but I'm really enjoying my Affinity PJ.
Just throwing it out there.

Look for a MIM used. Pro level bass.

So are the Squiers.

Save a little more and buy a G&L Tribute JB-2. It's still a Fender designed by Leo himself. Or, for around the same cash ($480) you could pick up an M2000 if you want an active bass.

I used to have a VMJ but my Tribby blows it away.

Why is it when a guy asks which Squier (otr whatever brand) he should get you always get these guys who say, "No, don't get the Squier (or whatever brand) you're interested in, get a used "X brand" bass that I like." ?
Kinda off topic, IMO. If he was interested in other basses, he would have asked about other basses in his poll question and post, I would think.

In an adjacent thread, OP was asking opinions about MM basses.. others began suggesting other basses..So...I suggested Squier, as my experience with Squier Jazz 5-Active has been nothing short of amazing and believe it or not.. in many ways equal to MM..only $1400 less!
