A different color orange, to be sure; but this is an old Sunset Orange Transparent Jazz I used to have. I've bought and sold a ton of basses over the years, but this is one of the few that gave me "sellers remorse"...

That's a gorgeous bass! I came across that model when I googled orange Jazz bass. It's always a stunning colour to look at, but I'm also partial to transparent finishes.

Thanks BBB. Along with a Montezuma Brown Ric 4003 I used to have, probably the best-looking basses I've owned. But as much as I've tried to like Ric's over the years, they could never displace me Fenders (and Fender-styles) for comfort and playability. With an Honorable Mention going to this stunning G&L SB-2 I had for awhile... (The Ric picture isn't the actual one I had, but looks identical.)

First, really surprised to see "Jazz" so far ahead of "Carrots". I thought this was TalkBass.

Very nice NBD for you!. The Ibanez is really sharp and I know it plays like a dream. Plus the color is cool.
There might be a chupacabra in the photo. Just be sure to lock up when you go to bed and you'll be fine. Enjoy the bass!

The J is cool too. I am a fan of orange things in general, I love that color on a bass. Congrats on that one too. Wouldn't worry about any buzz over the hash, there's nothing going on that far up the neck, am I right? Rock it!

GAS expands to fill your budget. Most people know this as Charles' Law of Bass but some classical physicists call it Gay-Lussac's Bass Law. Anyway, congrats on your basses.

I hear ya with Ricks. Though I think most of them look ugly, but every now and then someone posts one here that's truly stunning! I love the sound of them but I don't like the bridge, I worry about build quality, and the neck felt like barely sanded piece of wood. Granted I've only played one but it was enough to tell me it's not my thing.

That G&L looks really nice! I've never been able to play one, or a Yamaha though. That's something I need to correct one of these days!

Thanks! He's an old chupacabra, he'll only eat you if you don't offer him something better. ;)

"Charles' Law of Bass" I love it. Seems to me whether it was Gay-Lussac or Charles saying it, they were 100% correct!

Thank you! I don't know all the Ibanez models off hand either but if there's a style of bass you want there's a 99% chance Ibanez makes it. I just stick to the SR(thin ones), BTB(neck-thru boutique style), EHB(headless) and Talman(PJ in the style of a Jaguar/Tele hybrid) lines.

That is a beautiful Jazz you've got there! Brown tort is going to look great too.:) What year is it? The neck looks like it's from the 70's but the rest looks brand new.

It's a 1972 model that was natural (ash I think) with white PG which was boring to me in the 70s,
so I had it refin'd burnt orange/red tort.

I'm considering 3 ply brown tort but it looks good as is, in person.
I have a 3 ply white that's never been installed, and have never considered black.
Yours looks good with the white, BTW.....057912

I voted Jazz FWIW.

Good call on the refinish. Natural is nice too but I like the bit of life a transparent finish adds.

Honestly I think all those pickguards would look good on your Jazz. Brown tort would probably be best but it is my favorite pickguard colour so I'm biased.

There is something off about those pickup routes. They look to be way too big, especially the neck pickup. Look like some possible home cooking there but if it plays nice, no worries.

Enjoy.
Indeed. It was no Guy Fieri who was working in that kitchen!

But the pickups (just) get to where they need to be for a good setup and sound like the music of the Gods. So who am I to complain?:bassist:
