2nd failure...........

I don’t own one but the Fender Rumble amps are popular on this site.
It looks like the newest gen has an aux input on it.

Is pedal or preamp format ok? Or does it need to be super tiny like the Vox AmPlug?

Lotta preamps have the aux-in and headphone out on them, or some Zoom pedals like the B3n. I'm positive there's way more, or a multi-input headphone amp off Amazon or something could do the trick.

This thread came up the other day:

Has to be battery powered and able to plug in my bass. I have a USB powered mixer I can use in the meantime but I prefer to not use it because I have to tether it to my laptop to power it and use a cable to plug my bass in.

Not really a headphones only solution but I've bought my Ampeg SCR-DI for this exact requirement: headphones practice with aux-in running on battery.
Append I also use it for jams with friends as it fits nicely on my gigbag front pocket (with guitar and xlr cables). I mount it on a tiny board (Pedaltrain riser) with a tuner just for convenience. I like things that can serve more than one purpose.

@ErikP.Bass is selling a Cafe Walter HA-1A in the classifieds
Aux in with separate volume knob
Built like a tank
I love mine, except it's ability to reproduce flaws in technique is annoyingly accurate

Ok, I had been using a Joyo headphone practice amp. This is the second one I bought that has now crapped the bed! Any suggestions on a replacement? It needs to have an aux in so I can connect my mp3 player. Something reliable. I miss my old Pocket Rock-It. That thing lasted for many years.
Yes. A dedicated sound interface of a small format which you can buy for laundry pennies. I have yet to witness one of these fail.

NUX Mighy Plug Pro - sounds great, has amp models, effects, blue tooth for your mp3 player or phone and a drum machine. Best stand alone practice device I’ve ever used!

The Zoom B3 can be powered via wall wart, usb, or battery, but lacks an aux in. The B3n is much more capable and has an aux in, but is not battery capable.

Maybe, one day, Zoom will just throw everything into a multi.

That said, both are excellent for headphone practice. Rudimentary drum machines with a decent selection of beats and time signatures, and a looper that syncs with the drums.

Amp and cab models, FX, tuner, beats, looper, di, and usb interface. Software for editing on screen, but the unit’s controls are pretty intuitive. Both units were about $100 used.
