2x10" combo amps that don't "fart out"?

Hey everyone,
I've been looking for a nice 2x10 for small to medium sized venues (I was talked into more power, heh heh). However, when I'm checking reviews online, it seems like a lot of them seem to "fart out" or drive the 10" speakers harder than they can take, and this happens only around 1/2 volume. I was looking at the GK MB210, but am hesitant due to this fact.

Is this just something that 2x10" combo amps do, or are there some that can take their full wattage?

I know i am sounding like a broken record here....but my Fender TV bassman 2x10 350 watt is a killer. I played a loud show last weekend and i had the preamp gain on 6 and the master on 9 and it was thumping hard...no breakup no fart. it is a beast of an amp and it was under 1000 US.

Eden Metro. Just traded one to Brian at the Low End - before that, I used it for 8 years or so - 750 watts, two channels, 3 parametrics, but I mostly ran it all flat - it sounded great! I generally ran it at live shows at about 3/4 full power, and it was plenty loud for most shows. I only got rid of it because I've moved to a larger DNA-DNS4x10 rig with a power amp, and I needed to trade towards a pre.

...you may need to try a couple of them, tho - post W Eden gear can be spotty quality-wise. I got lucky and got a good one - never had a peep of trouble out of it.

There are good 210 combo amp's out there but you get what you pay for. I find the older 210 combo's are better but heavyer than the newer one. Myself I give up on 10's and now use only 12's went I gig out. I do have a 310 Dr. bass cab but it's not a combo and use only in church. Try a Trace they great combo.
Had a MB210 and just about give it away for a Markbass 112 combo.

I would seriously consider the GK MB212. Still a small and light weight combo, but with 2x12" and 500W, you should have zero fart issues! I've been using mine quite a bit since I got it around 3 months ago and have yet to hear any farts.....and play finger style and slap on my gigs. I even use an envelope filter with a doubler for some Stevie Wonder and Etta James tunes and it handles it perfectly! BTW, I only use Sadowsky basses which have a nice hot output.

I've used 2x10 combos in the past, and none sound as good as the 2x12s of MB212.

Listen for yourself, you can't see it but that is the MB212 you are hearing

It's a consideration of volume vs the 2x10 format. If you can honestly say that if you are going to only run it a low or low moderate volumes there are a good number of 2x10s out there that sound great. But, imo, as soon as you push to moderate volume or better you are going to have troubles.

ahh ... the OP is asking about a combo amp, so it is theoretically possible for the speakers of said combo never to fart out; provided the woofer are not damaged in the first place ... :ninja::p:hiding:
