2x15 Portaflex Fliptop Cab?

Sweet pics. The guy with the 2x15 said he'd go as low as $250 which I can afford--and it's cheaper than having an extension made. He says the opening is 10x22.5".

Will my blueline b-15n head fit in that? I'd measure myself but the amp is at the practice space across town.

I read on TB somewhere else that the gap on the Theile cab is 21"x11.5" so maybe it won't fit.

Ideas?

Take a closer look at the pictures of the BT-15C posted today by coreyfyfe. The lids on those cabinets are different than the one on your B-15N (Blue Line) They come all the way to the edge in the front. I would be doubtful if they will fit without some kind of modification to the head or the cabinet. There is no lip on the frontside top of cabinet that the head fits into.

Okay...I do see that....thanks so much...
for $250.00 maybe I can be flexible. He said the speakers were reconed in the 90's. I want to drive out and try it out sometime in the next week and try it out. I'll let you know how it goes.

I beleive your B15 head will fit. I'd take it along just to be sure. I know that my 63 Tube head will fit in my '67 BT cab(mine is the second photo that Corey posted). The B18 style head was used by Ampeg with these cabs, and they had bigger transformers than the B15 so you should be good to go as far as clearance. The only thing you may need to do is move the shockmounts locations - but I've never removed my SS heads from the lids to check that.

If anyone is still following--
I picked up the cab this weekend. Loaded with 2 JBL 2225's. They were re-coned sometime in the 90's and still sound tight. The tone was buttery smooth. A very different sound than my other theile cab 15 and neo Jensen. It is also considerably louder and moves a lot more air.

I read tb'ers on another thread talking about how muddy these speakers would be. I went to play the cab and did not find that at all. Buttery yes, creamy yes, round yes, there's not a lot of cut but I certainly didn't find them muddy.

Maybe you all knew this already but each 15 was isolated which surprised me and for being two 15 the cab isn't really that big so each speaker doesn't have all that much room. On TB I read that these speakers need 4 cubic feet to reach x frequency (i don't know 60khz or something). I don't know how this comes into play but...

The cab sounds great and is considerably louder than the 1x15.

My b-15n head will not fit the enclosure size but the lid is still with the cx15 cab so if someone has ideas for using the same b-15n head in two different size enclosures I'd be interested to hear them.
