2x8 cabs?

So I've been playing through a TC BG250-115 for a while, then our guitarist got a new (LOUDER) amp and I couldn't compete (the BG250 was barely keeping up before). I too was looking around for something light.

I picked up a used GK MB500 head (an AMAZING amp!) and then first considered the TC BC208 cab but noticed it was only 200w (it doesn't say if that's RMS or PEAK). I also looked at the Hartke Hydrive 2x10 cab ($500 new, 500w RMS) but those are 37lbs.

I eventually found a used Trace Elliot 2x8 cab and LOVE it. They are rated 400w RMS. It has no problems keeping up with the MB500. New you can buy the TE 2x8 through their website for $500. It can get very loud and is super light (27lbs). I'd definitely have no problem recommending it over the TC because you have more headroom with it.

If you're staying in the 200-300w range, just get a TC combo amp - those seem to go for around $250 used. If you need more volume, I'd go with the TE 2x8 and you can then pick up a TC Electronic Thrust BQ500 500-Watt head for $250 new. Reviews here say it's great.

My $0.02 worth anyway....

Hoped Elf 2x8 would do the trick, but it kept spitting at me. Found one of Bill Gallien's oldies, a 115T (t as in TL606) with correct EVM-15B. Gnome can certainly manage 2x8ohm parallel - but the Elf has to leave for better days elsewhere. EVM does it better. No-name jb isn't - found my dream neck, so bye Fender transfer! Bye Elf!

Chip - there's the bridge you sold me.
