2x8: Trace Elliot vs TC Electronic are they comparable?

Hi! I have a Trace Elliot Elf head, which I use with an old GK 1x15. Now i'm looking for a smaller and brighter cabinet: the obvious trace elliot 2x8 is a little out of my budget. I came across tc electronic BC208, much cheaper. I can't try any of these, so I would like your opinion. Thank you very much.

I have the TC and I like it fine. I tried out the Elf, and while I thought it probably was a little better overall, I didn't think it was worth the price difference. I might think differently if I bought it for a gigging situation where I might need that last little bit of performance, but mine works great for my application. which generally doesn't include drums.

I have them both. While the ELF is a 400 watt cabinet and the TC is a 200 watt cabinet, both cabinet work well with my Mesa D-800. When I need more speaker area - I chain them together amp to Elf then to tc electronic.

To me - using both at home on a hard wood floor the elf sounds a bit more even with the bass tones and highs. But the mids seem a little more out front. the TC cabinet seem just the opposite with more bass and highs with less mids.

Since I run from the amp to the elf first I have been stacking them with the with the TC on the top of the elf and seems to even the sound out for me. I think all in all they are both nice cabinets together and run well together.

Just tried the Trace 2X8 and it was fabulous! The bass response was amazing but still as bright as you'd expect from 8" drivers. Never been a fan of T.C's amplification but wasn't expecting what the Trace could do. That said, it is very expensive and the size, for me, is the only big advantage over a Markbass Traveller which is £100 cheaper. I'd get the Markbass before the other two.
