Squire is one of the few bassists I've actually seen use all three necks during one song, I think it's Awaken. I saw Rick Nielson playing the multi- neck (lost count) backing up Aerosmith, and he playe it on ONE song (for obvious reasons), and I don't recall him ever touching more than one neck, it's just a goofy prop. The new bassist for ZZ Top drags out that 15 (or whatever) string bass.... and then plays only the bottom 4 strings, because it's impossible to reach all the other ones. Showbiz! Geddy used his double-neck pretty effectively on one song, Xanadu, also Mike Rutherford of Genesis using the double neck Shergold, but 3+ gets into Spinal Tap territory.
