3.5mm --> Speakon/.25" cable?

Hey guys. I want to somehow hook up my laptop to use my bass rig as speakers. I assume that this is possible? I think the sound quality would be fine.

As far as an output jack, it looks like I should use the headphone jack, which is 3.5mm I think?

Next, do I run the cable straight into my speaker cabinet's speakon jack, or do I run it through my amp's 1/4" input, and THEN into the cab, just like with an instrument?

After all that, where do I find a cable that converts 3.5mm to speakon or 1/4" (whichever one I need)? I browsed MF, but didn't see anything.

Thanks guys

~Alex

Don't forget to turn off any EQ's or coloration. You want a stereo 1/8"(3.5mm) to mono 1/4" that has both the left and right (ring and tip) of the stereo 1/8" connected to the tip of the 1/4".

The first link you provided is the one I would get.
