3 x 12's?

just out of curiousity, does anyone know of any cabs with 3 12's in them? i've been interested in 12's lately, and i love the sound but i think for a standalone cab, 1x12 isn't loud enough, 2x12 is barely enough and 4x12's is just too damn heavy. i'm used to using 2 cabs (1 15 + 2 10's) and in the near future i'd like to cut it down to one really solid cab.

You might also want to look into bag end, they have a nice 2x12 cab, as well as aguliar, and gallien krueger.

GK also has a neo 4x12, weighs around 115 lbs.

Yes, I have an Aguilar GS212 and GS112, and together they sound quite heavenly, even through an when underpowered by my eden wt300. Truth be told, I think if you have a head with about 800 watts or more, the GS212 should do the trick.

Even with only the GS212 (8ohms) running the wt300 at 175 watts. Its still pretty damn loud because the cab is efficient (103 db @ 1W 1m). Enough for about a 300 person gig with no PA support. Definitely consider it over an SWR or an eden 212. The cabinet has a very nice voicing, at least for the style of music I play, which is funk, hip-hop, and soul.

Get an efficient 2x12 and you should be fine.

Look at efficient 2-12's, end result is the same as adding a lot more power amp. Otherwise a custom built 3-12 would be almost the ultimate speaker, just watch your ohm ratings.

Depending on your style don't rule out the Eden 212XLT, made for blues/blues rock, with deep but very well-defined lows. Also 103dB like the Aggie. I only played a GS212 once at at blues jam, I recall it sounding a bit muddier on the low end (but too many other factors to really get a feeling for how its voiced vs the Eden 212). I don't worry so much about highs, but I love the low end definition of the Eden cab.

If you go with a 212+112, suggest the 212 be 4 ohm and the 112 8 ohm (assuming the amp will go down to 2.67 ohm).
